I'm curious about some of the older comic adaptations that Shanower mentions in his introduction to the new Queer Visitors From the Land of Oz book. I was able to download a .cbr file of the Classics Illustrated Junior (1957) adaptation and I daresay it was terrible. The art is ho-hum, the design of the characters is unfortunately influenced by the MGM film, and it's only 30 pages long (basically leaving out the small matter of the Wizard being a humbug).

Hi all!
I've been researching this issue for about a month now. I'm stuck in a circle and am getting nowhere. I have a 1st Edition of Billy Bounce. On the ffep there is a gift inscription that I believe may be from Denslow himself (inscription is signed "Uncle Will"). Although he is not "OZ" directly, I'm hoping I can find someone with knowledge or someone who can lead me to some info.

Just found this forum and, as a life-long Oz fan, I'm sure I will enjoy it here.

I am having difficulty locating a moderator to ask a couple questions. Can anyone point the way? That way? The other? Of course, some people do go both ways.

Not being a regular listener to rap, I'm having a heck of a time understanding the lyrics to "Wizard of Poetry." So my question is this; is it normal to not include lyric sheets in rap CDs? My daughter gets her music via downloads, so even though the music isn't as... ah, unusual for her, she can't tell me what the latest standard is for printing lyrics.

I totally need to read these to find any Oz connections... Although I did hear a reference to a lion a...

My son did something very nice for me today. He downloaded onto my cel phone the theme music for the Captain Kangaroo show, which now plays every time I get a call. This makes me extremely happy as anyone who has read my interview in the Wizards Wireless forum of The Daily Ozmapolitan will know.

This got me to thinkin' (always a scary thought) about how I came to accept Oz as a real place.

You know, the older I get, the less and less I appreciate MGM's "The Wizard of Oz".

WOZ is like, the iconic IWOC image. But why? It seems to me we should disown it. If you will, think of the argument of WOZ/Return to Oz as Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Dammed film versions. It's almost exactly like that. When people think of Interview with the Vampire, they think the Tom Cruise movie, which was poorly done and a horrible adaptation of...
